For FACEs:
Please share your updates (even if just to say that nothing has changed!) for the campus resource map, if you have not yet done so.
I will share an updated version next month. Last year's map is attached for your reference.
Mini grants (flyer attached) are accepted on a rolling basis, so please apply any time. We are still hoping to connect with some strong student-designed and led projects, so please share the opportunity if you know of a group on your campus.
I also want to apologize for the delay in processing approved awards over the last few weeks. I'm told we're getting back on track. If you're missing a check, it should arrive next week.
For teachers:
Classroom teachers can apply for up to $3,000 from the Public Schools of Hawaii Foundation's Good Idea Grants, due June 8th, for projects for next school year. https://pshf.org/good-idea-grants/
For anybody:
As you're planning events, making surveys, and writing communications, please consider utilizing Transformative Translations' free services. These students can translate text into several common languages, redo flyers and posters in Canva, and make subtitles for videos. They're also always looking for mentors that speak different languages. https://sites.google.com/view/transformativetranslations/translations/translation-requests?authuser=0
We are continuing to offer mini grants that cover student leadership development, SEL development, and benefits to school families and communities (up to $500). This year, we have an exciting new expansion: We are now also offering larger grants up to $2,500 for strong student-designed and led projects!
We plan to build off these larger projects to foster interest and energy around what the students did. That could be through conversations, convenings, or an awareness campaign. We will also help connect students with people in the community that can keep their momentum going.
You can read more about the updated grant process and apply through this Form.
It’s been a while since we all met, so please let me know if you have updates about what’s going on at your campus! I plan to update the campus-based resource map for next semester, so please let me know if you have opened new Family Resource Centers, health centers, food pantries, etc. The map from the end of last spring is in the attachments.
I’d also be happy to talk or visit and write a feature for our newsletter, where you can share about upcoming events and ask for volunteers and donations.
